* Missile (independent): fires a dumb-moving missile. It travels in a straight line.
* Missile + Cannon: Heat seeker swarm. Shoots multiple projectiles that attempt to follow any targets.
* Missile + Beam: Lock-on missile, which is arguably the most useful. Aim at something to lock on. It takes a few seconds, but there is an exception: AIs (including turrets) have the unique ability tolock onto any target instantly without waiting. This makes lock-on missile turrets a useful option.
* Missile + Missile: A non-propelled bomb. Its velocity matches they of the entity that fired it. It arms itself after 1.5 seconds - and the missile will damage anyone, even the launcher or its allies, so use that delay to steer clear of the explosive.

Missile capacity
Unlike other systems, missiles can’t be used continuously. They have ammo, and the time needed to restock depends on reload rate. Every ship has 1 missile available, but you can use Missile Capacity Modules to add more of them. Note that the increase scales, and as you add more capacity, the amount that the next block will add decreases. (For example, a ship with 5 or so capacity may get +1 capacity by placing 1 more module, while a ship with 40 capacity would get +0.01 capacity if another module was added.) Because of this, if you place a lot of missiles, prepare to dedicate lots and lots of space. It can take over 5,000 capacity blocks to get 60 missiles!

WIP
The Player is the one playing StarMade. In lore we are referred to as Citizens.

Overview
Players of StarMade upon entering the universe will assume control of a Human(or Humanoid being?) which acts as our own personal avatar in game. Our avatars stand 1.7 meters tall and are roughly 0.7 meters wide and are capable of a wide range of abilities. By default all players will start off with the Dave skin but can apply their own custom made skins in the options menu.

Players are not invincible and have a finite amount of health. Our avatars only have 120 HP while NPCs have upwards 300 HP making them considerably more resilient. If a player runs out of HP then they will die and suffer several penalties.
*Respawning at the last Undeathonator used. (If none are used then you will respawn back at the global spawn point: default sector 2,2,2)
*Lose of Credits (default 10%)
*Lose of Faction Points (only if you are in a faction)
*Lose of inventory (Only if enabled via server configs)

Controls
There are two main ways to control our avatar, In Space or within gravity. In space, players are able to float in any direction without the need for any type of propulsion device however we cannot rotate side to side similar to ships. While in gravity we can run, walk, and jump. In either control schemes we are also able to sit on blocks and wedges.

Equipment
All equipment in StarMade is divided into 3 categories: suit equipment, tools, and weapons. All players spawn with a Laser, Healing Beam, Power Supply Beam, Marker Beam, Helmet, and Flashlight. All equipment (except the Logbook) can be purchased.

Suit equipment:
*Helmet - a purely aesthetic item, that when equipped in the hotbar, runs the animation of the player equipping it. Cost: 50,000 Energy Credits.
Weapons:
*Laser Pistol - A fast-firing laser gun that deals damage upon a hit. Each one bought from a Shop is a random color. Cost: 100,000 Energy Credits.
*Rocket Launcher - A slow-traveling projectile that deals a fair amount of damage upon a successful hit, but suffers from a long cooldown and splash damage. Cost: 1,000,000 Energy Credits; identical to the missile weapon system.
*Sniper Rifle - A slow-firing laser gun with a long cooldown, but heavy damage. Cost: 500,000 Energy Credits.
*Torch Beam - This weapon is used to slowly apply damage to a ship's core, ignoring shields and armor. Extremely useful if one manages to board a ship in astronaut mode. Cost: 100,000 Energy Credits.
Tools:
*Flashlight - Toggled on and off in the hotbar, shines a light in front of the player. Does not have to be held in order to be active. Cost: 3,000 Energy Credits.
*Transporter Beacon - Can be used to telepot (albeit extremely slowly) to a preset transporter. Has a limited range. Cost: 100,000 Energy Credits.
*Healing Beam - A short-ranged beam that can heal 5 Ship HP per second. Cost: 100,000 Energy Credits.
*Power Supply Beam - A short-ranged beam that can provide 50 energy to a ship per second. Cost: 5,000 Energy Credits.
*Marker Beam - Can be used to set up warp gates and race gates. For more information, see the respective wiki pages. Cost: 100,000 Energy Credits.
*Grapple Beam - Fires a beam that allows you to grapple onto an object (a ship!) from a long distance. It doesn’t automatically reel you in (yet), but you will have time to get to the object before the grapple expires. This makes it possible to get on objects from a good distance and board them. Cost: 100,000 Energy Credits.
*Build Inhibitor - This tool is turned on in the hotbar and prevents any building within a radius of 32 blocks. Useful for boarding. Cost: 1,000,000 Energy Credits.
Fleets are collections of ships either player or NPC made. They can be created to do a many tasks from attacking/defending sectors and mining asteroids.

Overview
Fleets are groups of ships that can be assigned to do various tasks automatically. Fleets can be created through the use of theFleet Menu. Players can create an unlimited number of fleets and each can contain an infinite number of ships. Any ship, even a ship not in your faction, is eligible to join a fleet. Once formed a fleet will follow any command given to it by the player. Fleets made by one player are not shared to any other players.

Usage
The fleet menu can be opened by pressing K (or opening it at the top right of the inventory menu) There are 13 orders you can give a fleet.

Idle: The fleet stays put. This is the default state of a fleet.

Move: The fleet moves to a specified sector.

Attack Sector: The fleet attacks a specified sector. This can only be used on loaded sectors.

Defend Sector: The fleet defends a specified sector. The fleet will chase any hostile entities up to two sectors away. This can only be used on loaded sectors.

Sentry: Much like the standard BOBBY AI ship, the fleet will attack any hostile entities.

Idle in Formation: The fleet follows the flagship in a straight line formation.

Sentry Formation: The fleet follows the flagship in a straight line formation until a hostile entity enters the sector. (Supposedly) The fleet will then break formation and attack the hostile entity until it is not in range or destroyed.

Carrier Recall: The fleet will (if possible) return to it's last docking point, designated after the ship has been manually docked. Each ship can have its own docking point or may use one docking point for some/all ships.

Mine this Sector: If the fleet has the ability to mine, it will start mining all asteroids in the sector. For the mining ships to work, the salvage computer has to be connected to a storage block, otherwise they will not work. They will also not mine if that storage block is full.

Fleet cloak: all ships with cloaking capabilities will immediately activate the cloaking ability of their stealth drive, making them invisible.

Fleet uncloak: all ships with cloaking capabilities that are cloaking (either through player actions or the Fleet Cloak command) will uncloak and reappear.

Fleet jam: all ships with jamming capabilities will activate radar jam and hide their signatures.

Fleet unjam: all ships with jamming capabilities that are jamming radars (either through player actions or the Fleet jam command) will disable their radar jammer, allowing their signature markers to reappear.

Build Block uses
* Build Blocks are required to access Build Mode in space stations.
* When in a ship, you can’t use this to fly or rotate, similar to when using a computer. However, you can still aim with the mouse, and Turret Control can be used, which can allow for interesting 2-player setups where one user pilots while the other shoots enemies (through the use of Remote Control turrets).

Redstonewolf: I did some testing and found how chamber sizes scale. This is just a fix with new-line issues.

Stub
Overview
Reactor chambers provide special effects (mostly buffs) and abilities to an entity or specific systems of that entity. At least one block of a chamber must be linked directly to a Reactor block by a path of Reactor Conduits. Second-tier effects can be achieved by linking a second chamber of the same type to an existing chamber by a path of conduit blocks.

Chamber List
colspan="2"|Name !! Description
Reactor Defense Chamber|| || The Defense Chamber is a designed to augment an entity's defensive capabilities. Its chamber tree is primarily divided between shield and armor defenses. Armor augments include increased damage resistance as well as the ability to regenerate lost armor hit points. The Shield defenses can increase the max shield capacity while also enable damage resistance prioritization. One unique non-combat buff is an armor based defense against the Heat Damage of Stars.
Reactor FTL Chamber|| || The FTL or "Faster-Than-Light" chamber is a chamber that increases an entity's fast travel abilities. It has trees that can augment the jump capabilities for ships, such as increased jump range, as well as a Space Stations warp gate's. For example: A warp gate cam be augmented to freely transport ships to any specified spot within its range without the need for a second warp gate. It also enables an entity to lock Sectors down by using Jump Interdiction.
Reactor Logistics Chamber|| || The Logistics Chamber allows entities to increase their production capabilities among other unique buffs. It can increase the amount of harvested Raw Materials from sources making it an extremely valuable augment for mining ships. The chamber can also boost the productivity of factory's on a Space Station. It also contains the ability to reduce or out right nullify the shield outage penalty for transporters.
Reactor Mass Chamber|| || A mostly Space Station centered chamber, the Mass chamber allows space stations to generate a gravity field similar to Planets. When activated the field will remain on until it is deactivated by the player. Whilst active a gravity field will either pull ships or players toward itself or away from itself, depending greatly on the type of gravity field.
Reactor Mobility Chamber|| || The Mobility chamber is intended to be used exclusively on ships. While allowing for basic flight augmentations (top speed increase and turn rate) it can also grant the ability to use the Thrust Blast. The Thrust Blast allows a ship to speed up suddenly at the press of a button. Extremely good for bursts of speed when changing flight directions.
Reactor Power Chamber|| || The Power chamber deals with augmentations centered around an entity's Reactors. Its main active ability is an energy regeneration boost that dramatically increases the entity's power regen. This sudden but limited boost in power allows ships or space stations to field more powerful weapons and systems then they normally would. This chamber can also enable a reactor fail safe system that automatically changes to another reactor if the entity's active reactor has surpassed a damage threshold.
Reactor Recon Chamber|| || The Recon Chamber is entirely centered around boosting the scanner ability on ships. It contains basic buffs to recharge speed, scan strength, and power efficiency however it also allows for interesting and unique upgrades. The Cargo scanner allows players to see the manifest of an entity's cargo holds while the Ore scanner can peer into an Asteroid and show exactly how many units of ore and crystal it contains.
Reactor Stealth Chamber|| || The Stealth chamber grants a ship the ability to use the Stealth drive, an active ability that can allow a ship to go undetected for various lengths of time. The chamber trees can also grant increasing degrees of stealth capabilities. For example: scrambling and disabling missile locks as well as turning completely invisible.
Chamber Sizes
Chambers have a size requirement that scales with the reactor size. The more Reactor Power blocks there are in the connected reactor, the the higher the number of Chamber blocks is.

As testing shows, the amount of blocks is equal to one thousandth of the power block count, minus one, rounded up to at least 1.

Therefore, the formula below can calculate the chamber size needed:

N = number of Chamber blocks;

P = number of Reactor Power blocks

N = 1 if P < 2000;

N = ceil((P/1000)-1) if P ≥ 2000

N = number of Chamber blocks
P = number of Reactor Power blocks

N = 1 if P < 2000
N = ceil((P/1000)-1) if P ≥ 2000

If the core is destroyed, the ship overheats. At this point, you can salvage scrap off of it. If it is not rebooted in 45 seconds, the ship is deleted.

Ship Basics
Building your ship
Build Mode
Build mode is where you spend almost all your time when designing a ship. It has a few benefits:
* The ability to move around quickly (left shift by default)
* No-clip (ability to pass through blocks without collisions)
* Infinite range (ability to place, remove, and interact with blocks from far away)
* Ability to jump between docked ships instantly
* Ability to see normally hidden blocks

Advanced Build Mode
Advanced Build Mode (Left control) lets you do a wide range of things:
* Enable symmetry to reduce work
* Increase brush size and place more blocks at once
* Replace blocks
* Fill in areas
* Use guides to easily create hard-to-make shapes
* Copy blocks (if you have it; most useful in Creative Mode) (Click in mouse wheel)
* Access advanced info, remove shadows (render everything at max lighting), copy and paste areas, and much, much more!

The tools it supplies are invaluable no matter what you are creating, and they make your life much easier with a variety of tools meant to speed up and/or simplify parts of the construction process.

Shops and buying resources
Don’t underestimate shops - they are an easy way to get whatever you may need (and get paid for what you don’t!), so you should preferably build ships either by [Shop||NPC shops] or by a [Station|station] with a Shop Module on it. If you can’t do this, you should at the very least keep some sort of storage entity or cargo transport nearby so that you can pull spare parts out of it and put away things you don’t need at the moment.

Building tips
Planning Ahead
You may want to map out your ship before you make it. This will allow you to plan out where systems go ahead of time, rather than slapping a ship together on the fly.

Grab Spares
Get what you need for your ship, then get more resources. You should probably aim to have around 200 more of each resource then required, just in case you mess up or make an unplanned change.

Use that AI
If you are making an assault carrier or a mining ship, don’t forget that Fleets allow you to simplify the process using drones. Assault carriers can add extra slots for AI-operated fighters, while miners can have docks on top for a few small mining ships.

Classifications
When a ship is saved to the Catalog, you can assign it one of the following classifications:
* Miner
* Support
* Scavenger
* Carrier
* Cargo Transport
* Attacker
* Defender

Display Modules are one of the most versatile blocks in the game. They can be used for a range of things, from leaving messages to displaying vital information during a firefight. The Display Module can be as simple or complex as necessary.

Activating a Display Module with Activate module will open its text editing menu. While it can take all manner of input, it has a limit on both character count and rows used. It can take up to 250 characters across up to 10 rows. Typing in a Display Module is not dissimilar to basic word processors such as Windows Notepad. Clicking "OK" will confirm and save the text which has been inputted to a Display Module's edit menu.

Display Modules can be oriented in 6 directions, but depending on the desired facing of the text, this may prove restrictive. In order to work around this limit on orientations, Display Modules could instead be placed on docked entities, letting the player more precisely control the facing of the text.

Formatting and Coding
Aside from text, Display Modules can also make use of various simple codes, which either change the formatting of the text on a display or allow it do display important statistics about an entity.

Basic formatting includes changing either the size or color of text on a Display Module. Typing certain characters between <code><style></code>and <code></style></code> tags will result in a change in font size and/or color. <code>f=#</code> will change the font size. There are only 3 values for this: 0, 1, and 2. <code>c=#######</code> will change the color of the text based on the HTML(Hex RGB) color code used. For example, typing <code><style>f=2,c=#FF0000</style></code> with make that Display Module have red text and font size 2. It should also be noted these settings will effect all the text on a Display Module. If different styles of text are required, different Display Modules must be used instead.

Display Modules can handle more than just text formatting. They are also capable of showing vital information about an entity or its surroundings through the use of some bracketed coding. Typing <code>[power]</code> and pressing "Ok" will allow for the current entity's available energy to be displayed in real time. Various other codes such as <code>[shield]</code> and <code>[structureHp]</code> will have similar effects for their respective statistics. Unlike the basic formatting, these codes are treated like normal text and do not overrule everything else on a display module. Making use of additional codes can allow the construction of practical information readouts.

Copying and Pasting
Display Modules also support copy-and-paste functionality. When accessing a Display Module that contains text everything will be highlighted. Pressing Copy will copy all the selected text (though there currently is no indication of this occurring). Opening another Display Module and pressing Paste will paste the selection into the current space. Using the copy/paste function is a good way to maintain consistency throughout a number of Display Modules. Using this, players can also "import" special text characters from external sources. This is because Display Modules support ASCII characters, which can be copied from a website (or other sources) and pasted in-game.

Text Overhang
Display Modules lack certain formatting features such as text wrapping and alignment. Typing continuously without manually adding line breaks (Chat) will result in text extending past the right edge of the block and being displayed in midair. If it is desired that text stays on the surface of the display block, some trial and error will be required to set up correct line breaks. This odd functionality does allow text to be displayed either in midair or in front of non-display blocks, however. The maximum distance that characters can reach is roughly five meters (5 block lengths) from the Display Module they are on.

Logic Activation
Logic can also be used with Display Modules to create a multitude of devices. When a logic block is placed adjacent to a Display Module, and this logic is linked to another Display Module, the text of the latter Display Module will be changed to that of the former whenever the logic is activated. This feature allows for dynamic setups such as sending messages in response to various logic triggers, or perhaps just animating a piece of text.

Basic Factories are the first tier of factory units in the crafting hierarchy. They are the only factory system that can be built directly from the player's inventory. They are responsible for creating basic system blocks such as Ship Cores, Power Reactor Modules, and Thruster Modules as well as all basic hulls. Basic Factories are often the first leg in larger, more complex factory set ups. By connecting the Basic Factory to a Storage Block, The factory will automatically pull resources needed from it. Factories cannot be placed on ships, but can be placed on planets, asteroids, and Space Stations. However, they do require a power output to become functional.

As of the current version, Basic Factories can craft 94 individual blocks.

Production (a.k.a. crafting) of blocks in StarMade is accomplished using specialized blocks or (in a limited fashion) the player's inventory. Things produced in this way may be later used for building structures and ships using Build Mode.

Factories are placed on Stations. If you have enabled it, you can also place them on ships (ALLOW_FACTORY_ON_SHIPS in server.cfg).
The Basics
Production involves placing required resources in the factory or refinery inventory, setting a recipe, and then waiting a short time for the production cycle to complete. Production runs continuously producing one recipe output per cycle until the supplied resources are exhausted. Depending on the factory, running a production cycle may require power, with more power being required by more advanced factories or factories which have been enhanced.

Kinds of factories and refineries
There are three basic kinds of factories:
;Player Inventory : There are three specialized crafting sections in the player inventory, accessed by the Craft Generics, Craft Micro and Craft Factory buttons. These can only produce Alloyed Metal Mesh and Crystal Composite for the first two, and the Basic Factory in the third one.
;Refineries : These are used to convert raw resources or Scrap into Alloyed Metal Mesh, Crystal Composites and Capsules.
: Blocks: Capsule Refinery, Micro Assembler
;Factories : These are used to build the remainder of the blocks in the game.
: Blocks: Basic Factory, Standard Factory, Advanced Factory

Inventory
Each factory has a standard 7x5 inventory, except for the Player Inventory ones which have only two slots each. When the factory or refinery is activated with Activate Module the lower half of the player inventory is replaced with a window showing the first three rows of the factory or refinery inventory and a scroll bar to the right side used to see the other rows. Additionally the player inventory gets a scroll bar of its own.

Production recipes
Factories, but not refineries or the player inventory, have a Change Production button above their inventories. This opens up a dialog used to select what the factory will produce each cycle while the factory is active. Factories can only produce one kind of thing at a time. See the Factory block pages for details on supported recipes. Next to the Change Production button is a Graph button which becomes active when a recipe has been selected. This will show what the material requirements are for the item, including the precursor items all the way down to basic materials.

Production info
Refineries and the player inventory have a Production button above their inventories. This opens up a window describing what the refinery or player factory will produce. There is no selection as with factories.

Activation
Factories and refineries - but not the player inventory - may be activated or deactivated by toggling the Active/Inactive button above their inventory. Active blocks will consume power even if they do not have enough resources to produce anything.

Enhancement
Factory and refinery blocks may be linked to one or more Factory Enhancers in order to increase their production multiplier, thereby improving the rate as which they produce outputs. See Factory Enhancer for details on this process.

Automation
Factories and refineries can be linked together along with Storage to create automated assembly lines capable of producing complex recipes with little or no user interaction. When a factory is linked as a master to one or more other blocks with inventories, the factory will pull from the linked inventory or inventory as many resources as are necessary to run one cycle of production. If the linked inventories do not have enough resources for one production run, the cycle will be skipped and the process re-tried on the next cycle.

As both Storage and factories have the same cycle times, it's possible to also link Storage as a master to factories in the assembly line and siphon off outputs into those inventories. Careful setting of the filter values on the Storage blocks will help keep everything in sync.

Example
Place a Storage with several Alloyed Metal Mesh and Crystal Composites in it, then link a Basic Factory as master to the storage. In the factory select Grey Hull from the production drop down. Ensure the factory is active. As long as there are enough meshes and circuits in the storage, the factory will continue to produce hull pieces until it is deactivated.

Factories may also be chained together to produce recipes that have more than one stage. Starting with the above example, place a second Basic Factory and link it as master to the first factory. Set it's production to Grey Hull Wedge, then activate it. Now by merely supplying the Storage with mesh and circuits, the second factory will produce wedges from the hulls produced by the first factory.

Note than unlike Storage, there are no filters or other methods to control how many items are pulled from linked inventories, so in the above example the player would not be able to get both Grey Hull and Grey Hull Wedge because the second factory would consume the input from the first at the same rate it was produced. This can be solved by either having separate production lines for each final output, or clever use of factory enhancers to change the proportions of outputs. In the above example, linking one Factory Enhancer as a slave to the first factory would cause it to produce 2 hull each cycle, while the second factory only consumes a single hull to produce a wedge. The end result would be that each cycle one hull and one wedge is produced.

Credits are the currency of the Starmade universe. They are used to purchase a variety of goods and services from Shops.

Overview
Credits are the only currency available and is accepted at all Trading Guild and player owned shops. They are not subject to inflation or deflation, however the price of items can change depending on the current local demand for the product. Individual servers can set the base price of items which will effect the value of credits.

When players begin the game they will start with 50,000 credits to spend as they so choose. The most common use for Credits is to buy and sell materials from Shops. Typically, one will mine and sell ore in exchange for credits, then use the profits to buy manufactured goods. This method is considered more efficient than manufacturing in the measure of ore to product.
*While it is technically possible to build an empire without using any credits, it is much easier to utilize trading.
*Currently there is no way to transfer money from player to another without directly dropping credits in space. Its is believed that the "Player Trade" option (As of Alpha 0.199.472 is not implemented yet) will solve this.
Turrets are special rail docked entities that function as either offensive or defensive structures for larger entities. Although mainly used on capital ships and Space Stations they can be used on anything capable of having rail docked entities.
Overview
Turrets in StarMade are a core system feature that can allow any entity, large or small, additional means of attack or defense. While not ultimately necessary for ships to function they become increasingly vital as players build larger and larger. As ships begin to grow in size they will inevitably have trouble maneuvering and turning to face targets. When surrounded by enemies it is completely unlikely for players and even for the AI to fight effectively. Space Stations face a similar problem as they can not defend themselves from attack hence the use of Turrets.
In actuality any ship that is equipped with a BOBBY AI Module and has been docked to a Rail Turret Axis block will be technically counted as a Turret. When docked the ship will have 360° degrees of rotation. These types of turrets are called "Single Axis Turrets" as they have only one turning axis. The exact rotational axis will depend greatly on the orientation of both the Ship Core and its Rail Docker. It should also be noted that turrets can dock in a "Z" axis manner but the AI cannot make use of the orientation as it has trouble orienting itself.

While functional single axis turrets are very limited in their uses. It is typically more advantageous to create a "Double axis Turret". This is accomplished by placing another Rail Turret Axis block onto the existing single axis turret in a different orientation. Dock another ship to this new turret axis and equip this entity with its own BOBBY AI Module and its done. This second entity is often referred to as the "Barrel" while the first entity is the "Base". Once the Barrel is attached all the player needs is to turn on the AI Module and their turret is ready for duty!

Note: While it is technically possible to have both the base and the barrel with their own BOBBY AI. It is advised that only the Barrel have an AI Module as it will be able to control the base as well. Having both the Base and the Barrel running their own AIs can cause (potential) problems with the AI.
Turrets are often equipped with the numerous weapons available. Each combination providing a unique advantage. Cannon systems are designed for penetration. Best for punching deep holes into targets or even pushing them away with its immense kinetic force. Missile systems are great for spreading damage out over a large area. The most useful missile combination for turrets are the Missile + Damage Beam system. This combo fires lock-on missiles and the <u>AI has the unique ability to instantly lock on to targets</U> while the player must wait several seconds for a lock. Finally Damage Beam systems provide a fast, instantaneous, and direct line of attack. They are great for dropping the shields of targets.

Since turrets are still ships they can have and make use of (most) weapon systems installed. However the down side to this is that turrets will draw power from its parent entity. Players should design their ships accordingly if they wish to have a large number of turrets.

Redstonewolf:

This page is a basic overview of factories, what they do, and a general description of what each one makes. For a list of factories, see :Category:Factory. To see a specific factory in detail, click on the header for that factory.

Factories are blocks that manufacture resources to automatically. You can chain them to make automatic factories (which turn raw ore into a resource) or auto-shipyards (which uses raw ore to build a ship).

It should be noted that all factory types can only be placed on stations.

Types of factories
Capsule Refinery
Capsule Refineries are one of the most important factories, allowing you to create the Capsules that are needed in most factory recipes.

Micro Assembler
Micro Assemblers are simple factories. They make Metal Mesh and Crystal Composites, two useful resources for crafting. They can also convert Scrap Alloy and Scrap Composites to their usable counterparts.

Basic Factory
The basic factory is a lower-level factory capable of making simple items. It is also capable of making Basic Armor blocks, making it invaluable early on if you are not using Creative Mode and need a quick way of getting armor (other than buying it).

Standard Factory
Standard Factories are good for making medium-tied resources, and are also able to make Standard Armor blocks. through the combination of Standard Hardener and any Basic Armor block. Best combined with Basic Factories to create Standard Armor.

Advanced Factory
This is the most advanced of the Factories. Advanced Factories can make the higher-tier items, as well as upgrade Standard Armor into Advanced Armor via Advanced Hardener.

Factory Enhancer
The Factory Enhancer is not a factory; rather, it increases the items made per cycle by one. They consume power, however, so keep that in mind when using them.

Uses for factories
Below are some uses for factory blocks:

Shipyards
If you put factories in a chain, you can produce ships automatically just by supplying raw materials.

Automatic Shops
Shops have auto-pull as well, so you can set up a chain where you can automatically get a profit. Simply have a storage drawing needed items from the shop, place a factory/some factories that draw from that storage, and make the shop draw the finished product from the factory. You can test it out by putting a material in; your storage will give it to the factory, and the output will be put up for sale at your listed price.

Hands-free shipyard
If you are willing to deposit a lot of credits, you can combine the above two to create a shipyard that buys its own supplies! Although, as said just before, you need to deposit a lot in order to afford items, it is good for mass-producing ships if you don’t want to mine and/or don’t want to micromanage the shipyard very much.

Repair drone restock station
If you have a small ship that uses Astrotech systems, you probably gave it storage. You can create a simple recharge station by placing factories and tying it to a Rail Load. Then, when the repair ship docks there, it is automatically loaded with supplies to keep repairing.

Have another idea for factories? Put it here as a Level 4 heading.

Races are player-made events where users must try and be the fastest one to pass through a series of race gates.

Preparation
Necessary Materials
In order to build a race track, you need the following:

* Some race gate controllers and race gate modules, to construct your race gates
* A Marker beam to connect the gates together
* Something capable of emitting a Logic Signal, such as a Button
* Optionally, some blocks to create the actual track path or to contain the button in some sort of room

Building your tracks
To begin, place a set of Race Gate Modules, as well as a Race Gate Controller. Select the Controller with Select module, and use Connect modules to connect all the modules at once. Repeat as many times as you want to build the desired track.

To connect your gates and make a track, get out your Marker Beam. Fly over to the first gate and right-click on it with the tool. (Don’t worry, this does not remove the gate.) Next, go over to the second gate and left-click it. The gates are now linked. Now, right-click the second gate, travel to the third, and left-click that. Repeat for all other gates. Once you have left-clicked the last gate, be sure to right-click it, then left-click the first gate. You have now linked your gates in a continuous loop.

Finally, get out the button and place it. Just like how you connected the gates, use Select module and then Connect module to connect the button (or other logic device) to the first Gate. Sending a signal to this will begin the race.

Congrats, you’ve done the biggest part. Your track is finally completed. Get ready to race!
Starting the Race
Open the dedicated race menu (open any interface, click Player, and select “Race”, or just open the Radial Menu with Tab and click “Race” from there). From here, you can manage (and join) any race.

Once the first gate has gotten a signal, the race will start. All players will have the next gate marked for them so that they know where to go next.

Racing tips
* One loading hint says that you can use tractor beams to your advantage and keep opponents from getting too far ahead.
* Configure your thrusters! You don’t need to keep the defaults and prioritize rotation over speed. Change the settings to increase forward thrust so that you can speed ahead of the competition.

Optional additions
Shipyard pitstop
Racing can be rough, on you and your ship. It is a good idea to have a place where users can repair damage mid-race. Although (just like in a real race) this takes time and causes a severe disadvantage, it is good if thrusters or armor was damaged during the race and you can’t wait until the end to fix it.

Because of this, you should have at least one shipyard so that users can repair the ships at will. Give them plenty of room to dock, call a repair order, and get back into the race as quickly as possible.

Be sure to stock it properly and create blueprints ahead of time. The last thing players want is to guess which blueprint is which, not have a blueprint at all, or have to wait for a factory to supply the materials that are needed. This is especially important if you use stronger armor, as this means you need to put items through up to three separate factories per block.

Spectator Stand
Although you probably won’t amass hundreds of users to fill one, a spectator stand is a nice aesthetic touch if you want to get fancy with your track.

Storage
Storage bags for your ships are a nice addition, and give you somewhere to store them once you are done. (If you want to use the Shipyard Pitstop idea above, you can put the shipyard in the storage bay - the shipyard modules would fit perfectly in the walls!)

Select the Controller with (Key goes here), and use (Key goes here) to connect all the modules at once.

Just like how you connected the gates, use (Key) and then (key) to connect the button (or other logic device) to the first Gate.
