Heillos: Simplified heavily. Category headlines don't seem to be about detail; maybe putting in a generic "Lights" page which talks about the general behaviors of all lights, and notes whatever other points, is in order: these existed on the old wiki.

Rods are one-block-long, approximately 1/10 block-diameter sticks, visually consisting of two flat images, arranged in a "X" pattern across the middle of the block space that they occupy. Rods can be arranged in six directions. When active, rods provide illumination of their respective color, and can be turned off to deactivate the illumination.

Not only can rods provide illumination, but they can also be used as thin, decorative structural elements, such as antennas, beam emitters, and poles.
