-*A useful building material that’s about as tough as hull but weighs only one fifth as much. This excellent strength to mass ratio makes them an ideal choice for cladding light ships, and they’re also very cheap to manufacture, although unlike hull they can't be converted to slabs or wedges. Since they don't give armor hitpoints they won't receive damage reduction from your ship's armor, generally making them only half as strong as hull in a fight, but most weapons don't have trouble cutting hull anyway. Used judiciously they can make light ships even faster while not increasing vulnerability too much.
