Usage
Placing stabilizers on a ship or space station automatically connects them to the active reactor they support. Multiple groups of stabilizers can be built to improve the stability of a single reactor, so it is not necessary to place all stabilizers together.
Sacrificial Stabilizers
Since stabilizers are entirely useless without the reactor they support, it actually makes sense to encapsulate a ships reactor with the stabilizers themselves as a last layer of defence. While this is a great strategy, it is not a build requirement. The benefit of this method is that the durability of the stabilizer blocks themselves now also protect the reactor.
