Forcefield (Blue)s are transparent glowing togglable doors with similar properties as Advanced Armor. They can be opened and closed with R. Place additional doors adjacent to one another to create larger doorways. Connecting it to logic can increase its utility.

Item Description

"These forcefield modules can used to create doorways that can be opened or closed by the player, docking beams, and logic systems. Multiple adjacent blocks register as one door. Meaning that activating one will activate all other doors touching it. Quite useful for creating large doorways. Forcefields are significantly more durable than standard Plex or Glass Doors. Press R to Open/Close."

Usage

Forcefield (Blue)s are among the several types of doors available in StarMade. They act as basic doors that players are able to toggle open and close with the R key. When closed they will be solid, making it impossible for players to get through it. However when open they will become invisible and intangible allowing players to walk straight through them. Each block is capable of this on its own but when placed in contiguous groupings they all will act as one door. This grouping function will also work when using different types of doors, allowing players to mix and match blocks to create any door design they wish. Aside from their designs each type of door will correspond to a type of category of armor. Glass Doors are similar to basic hull, Plex Doors are much like standard armor, and Blast Doors as well as the Force fields (Forcefield (Red), Forcefield (Blue), and Forcefield (Yellow)) are just as strong as advanced armor.

Depending on whether a door is open or closed the block will have different properties. When the door is closed it will become much like an ordinary armor block. Able to take a sufficient amount of damage before being destroyed. Attacking a Forcefield (Blue) in this state will also trigger their entity's shields if it has any. Interestingly when they are open they lose their collisions and any object or entity can pass through them unabated, even weapon fire.

Forcefield (Blue)s are also subject to faction protection, if an entity has been claimed by a faction then all doors on it will not allow non-faction members to operate them. Only through the use of a Public Permission Module will non-faction members be able to use it while factioned. Be weary however as the time it takes for doors to open and close is instantaneous, it is very possible to accidentally get stuck inside a set of doors when it closes. Fortunately getting trapped does not hurt the player and only in cases where they do not have faction permission to open a door does this become a problem.

Doors are also logic enabled systems. When they receive a logic signal they will change the state to either being open or closed. Doors will close when it receives a high signal (ON) and and open when it receives a low signal (OFF). A very practical use for adding logic would be to set up automatic doors.
