To create a ship you need some basic components in which on most servers or in single player you will start out with. First press 'X' to spawn in a ship using a ship core from your inventory. Now you can enter the core by pressing 'R' and make sure you are in build mode. If you are not in build mode you can do so by pressing 'Z'. Now you can move about the core and build your ship. Some blocks you will need on your ship are power reactors, thrusters, and hull blocks. Those are the basics. You can also make edit your ship to mine by adding a salvage computer and then connecting salvage modules. You are now ready to go mine some asteroids. Good luck and have fun.
